What you will do

The Program Manager will lead the new product development and launch programs for the Johnson Controls Fire Detection Products Business.

Working with geographically dispersed, engineering, manufacturing, product management, marketing, sales, and finance teams, the Program Manager will lead program teams throughout the product development process ensuring each function manages its deliverables to meet the program schedule, scope, and budget. The Program Manager reports out at regular accountability and cadence meetings and will be responsible for clearly and concisely presenting the status of open projects to groups of leadership & stakeholders.

Responsible for Schedule, Cost and Scope for the program.

This position will be based at the Johnson Controls building in Pune and will be part of a Global Fire Detection Program Management team.

How you will do it

  • Leads software and hardware product development programs as a Program Manager
  • Work with functional groups to identify program scope, budget, schedule, resources, and business case
  • Lead program kick-off to assemble team, provide program overview including scope, budget and schedule and communicate team member expectations
  • Lead team meetings with all functional areas to track progress, identify issues and develop action plans
  • Adhere to the JCI internal product development process, holding team members accountable for their deliverables in accordance with requirements and verifying completion of each deliverable
  • Actively develops and manages schedules, prepares status reports, documents critical paths and works to ensure plans adhere to product requirements and schedules.
  • Manage issues, risks, and opportunities, assisting team members in removing roadblocks and escalating to management issues that cannot be resolved
  • Manage project scope, budget, and cost
  • Conduct project phase exit gate review and track post launch activities
  • Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Demonstrate a track record of managing product development projects to completion
  • Lead improvement initiatives
  • Can deal with ambiguity - Can effectively cope with change, shift gears, and make decisions
  • Demonstrate the organization values by bringing issues to the appropriate managers promptly for resolution, sharing best practices among all teams, serving as a brand advocate, leading by example to support a positive work environment, and encouraging other staff to do the same

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels across the organization
  • A proven track record in managing and delivering projects to schedule in a multidiscipline environment.
  • Excellent planning, organization and controlling skills
  • Project management skills and experience
  • Knowledge and fluency in Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, etc.) and Project reporting/ scheduling software (Microsoft Project, Access, etc.)
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • People/Function Management: Develop and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders and assist them, as appropriate, with issues or concerns to a satisfactory resolution
  • Interpersonal Skills: Organized - Can marshal resources to get things done; can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal; uses resources effectively and efficiently
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, problem solving and presentation skills
  • Self-motivated takes initiative to resolve issues
  • Strong business acumen & proven leadership capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and motivate highly skilled teams

Required

  • BE (ECE/EIE/ETC/CSE/Mech) Degree in a technical field is required
  • Experience in developing project plans and project management, at least 10 years of program management experience
  • Knowledge of PMI Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK®)
  • Product Development and manufacturing business experience required (i.e. working with design engineers, manufacturing, sourcing, product management, marketing, etc.)
  • Excellent English Communication Skills
  • Ability to work in a global team environment

Preferred

  • PMP® certification desirable, not mandatory
  • Agile / SAFe Certification desirable, not mandatory
  • MBA is preferred
