Job Description

Analyze existing database systems and recommend improvements
Configure and administer Oracle database servers and Oracle E-Business Suite applications
Work with IT Manager to establish database security structures, Sox compliance
Create and maintain database access systems including tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and triggers
Administer database replication between servers, across Local Area Network and Wide Area Network
Tune and optimize database objects
Provide 24x7 on call support
Demonstrates proficient use and knowledge of standards and procedures
Communicates in written and verbal form effectively in a large team or departmental setting
Applies Garmin's Mission Statement and Quality Policy and exhibits enthusiasm for and a desire to see Garmin succeed
Provides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques including performing root cause analysis and identification of corrective action for given problems
Performs and plans minor version upgrades
Uses tools and scripting to efficiently manage technology
Makes recommendations for component level improvements
Identifies interdependencies in system and application components
Coordinates cross team non-project changes
Participates in roadmap planning for systems or applications
Organizes and leads meetings with users of IT systems
Understands change is important and adapts well

Appropriate levels of security access is monitored
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another technology related field AND 4 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Outstanding academics
Experience with Java and Java Database Connectivity (JDBC)
Experience on Oracle Advanced Supply Chain Planning (ASCP)
Experience with Oracle database High availability (RAC/ASM/Dataguard)
Demonstrates ability to solve moderately complex technical problems independently
Demonstrated experience in successful implementation of technology solutions
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team setting
Consistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization
