Job Description


Min Relevant- Exp: 10+ years from Tier I institute;


We are looking for a General Manager to oversee Category & Merchandising Management for a cluster of Categories.


- General Manager responsibilities include formulating category growth strategy, building annual plans, translating them into quarterly & monthly plans, nurturing vendor relationships, managing people and establishing policies.


- To be successful in this role, you should be a thought leader and a confident decision-maker, building long-lasting relationship with brands, helping our people develop and be productive, while ensuring overall health for your accounts.


- Ultimately, you'll help our company achieve that 10x moonshot goal!


Key Responsibility Areas :


Build Category business models :


- Identify opportunities, define category strategy, and translate it into annual/quarterly/monthly plan and execute the same.


- Anchor category selection, product mix, product pricing & inventory control


- Understanding Competition and developing counter strategies, focus on lead parameters by checking on external data like AC Neilson etc.


- Oversee day-to-day operations which will include ensuring stock availability, movements in margins and sales velocities


- Leading pricing, promotions, managing P&L, Cost Optimization structures.


- Build asset monetization capabilities, events & activations


Partner Management :


- Lead Vendor engagement to build annual JBP & deliver on brand plans


- Negotiate trade terms, garner offtake generation plans & generate additional revenue


- Build Channel differentiation and identify triggers to activate different channels


- To develop and manage strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders through appropriate management of their expectations and agreed objectives.


People Management :


- To lead a team of category managers & executives, provide them continuous support, coaching and guidance to enhance the team performance.


- Set Goals, KPI and conduct periodic reviews to identify opportunities for growth


Job Requirements:


- 10+ years from Tier I institute; with at least 5 years of National General Management or similar leadership role.


- Good understanding of FMCG categories, Route to Market, FMCG Distribution, Channel Management, or category buying & merchandising experience of relevant categories in retail/C&C/ecom/eb2b.


- An understanding of the market and consumer insights and trends


- Proven ability to lead and develop teams and people


- Customer first and partner centric approach.


- Good stakeholder management including senior leaders both internal & external


- Strong people management and persuasion skills to manage and influence at all levels of the company


- Ability to analyse and develop accurate conclusions to support category decisions based on key data


- Ability to break down complex problems into executable processes and functions


- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


Relevant Experience :


- Experience of relevant multi-categories in roles across


- Cust Mktg, Shopper Mktg, Account Mgt, Cust Mgt, Modern Trade, Category Mgt in FMCG companies. Profiles of National Account Manager, National Channel Manager, National Modern Trade/C&C Head, National Channel Head will suit.


- Buying or Merchandising in Retail/C&C/ecom/eb2b. Profiles of GM Merchandising, Head, Category GM, National Category Merchandising Manager


- Exclude only Marketing & GT/Field Sales exp.
