Main purpose of role:
- Responsible for supporting the Head of GM in global mobility partnering with businesses, a long-term focus on all mobility matters, as a key member of the GM team supporting the implementation of the new global mobility framework
- Assist with building and managing a GM team in Chennai
- Responsible for day to day administration activities of the Global Mobility Company and the liaison point for finance and tax on information for intercompany charges and payroll
Will have expertise in GM and in working with cross border teams in Chennai and throughout the Petrofac global network.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Support the GM head in building up a Global Mobility practice
- Able to explain to employees, HR team and senior management how global mobility works.
- Support the head of GM in designing a range of different policies depending on the nature of the assignment and can logically justify different treatment for different employees (e.g. Hardship locations single or family status etc.).
- Use data appropriately to develop and deliver KPIs.
- Manage multiple combinations of complex assignments, i.e., nationalities, locations, etc.
- Deliver in collaboration with offshore shared services model where all administration needs to be conducted by the offshore team in Chennai, India.
- Committed to the highest standards of compliance and ethics. Need to ensure all legal obligations are met such as payment of tax and observance of Immigration and work permit requirements etc.
- Responsible for effective and strategic global mobility partnering with HR Leads, HRBPs, and business heads.
- Collaborate closely with wider teams, such as Reward, Tax and Legal teams to create forward-looking solutions that are globally consistent and regionally tailored.
- Provide meaningful analytics around global mobility.
- Support new country strategy presenting alternative employment models for mobile employees.
- Monitor and assess market competitiveness on GM policies.
- Training and continual learning for Chennai staff

PROBLEM-SOLVING
- Solves individual expat problems, flagging if systemic changes are needed.
- Works with GM head to provide solutions to complex global moves, i.e. location, nationality, subcontracting, etc.

Knowledge & Qualifications:
- Customer focussed and highly responsive
- Can work to tight deadlines.
- Minimum of 4 years in Global Mobility
- Able to deal with senior management and demanding employees in a diplomatic but firm and fairway.
- Logical approach to issues
- Experience in practical approach and risk issues created by cross border working, eg payroll, immigration, tax
- Working knowledge of all aspects of global mobility, including expat policies, short-term and long-term project assignments,
- Bachelors or master’s degrees with at least 4 years of relevant mobility experience. Experience in project assignments is ideal.
- Good understanding of the challenges for employees in moving to harsh locations.
- Understanding the practical aspects of global mobility: relocation, work permits and family moves.
- Highly numerate and commercially aware with an understanding of the financial impact of actions
- Energy sector projects experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of expat/shadow payroll is a plus
