Job Description

Lead Sr. Software Engineer responsible will be responsible for providing technical guidance and mentorship to a team of software engineers. Your primary focus will be the development of all server-side logic, definition and maintenance of the central database, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end. You will also be responsible for integrating the front-end elements built by your co-workers into the application. Therefore, a basic understanding of front-end technologies is necessary as well.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• 70% hands on development, 30% team lead management.
• Experience with payment gateway integration
• Lead a team of engineers to adopt & advocate for best engineering.
• Serve as a technical adviser to management and provide programming perspective on requirements.
• Guide team development efforts towards successful project delivery.
• Provide technical leadership to teammates through coaching and mentorship.
• Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits.
• Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team.
• Collaborate with other software engineers and architects to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain applications.
• Effectively bid and estimate a project / task.
• Analyze and resolve technical and application problems.
• Assess opportunities for application and process improvement and prepare documentation of rationale to share with team members and other affected parties.
• Adhere to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on-time and on-budget.
• All code, from contractors and in-house developers is to be checked and reviewed by this position as well as pushing and maintaining code repositories internally.
• Consult with technical leads across engineering to review software component interfaces and capture framework capability requirements.
• Advise the Product Engineering team to provide software improvement recommendations and highlighting risk areas.
• Build efficient, testable, and reusable PHP modules.
• Solve complex performance problems and architectural challenges.
• Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers

Required Experience:

• 3+ years of being a team lead and/or management experience
• 10+ years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
• Strong knowledge of PHP Laravel Framework
• Understanding the fully synchronous behavior of PHP
• Understanding of MVC design patterns
• Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
• Knowledge of object oriented PHP programming
• Understanding accessibility and security compliance
• Strong knowledge of the common PHP or web server exploits and their solutions
• Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
• User authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments
• Integration of multiple data sources and databases into one system
• Familiarity with limitations of PHP as a platform and its workarounds
• Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes
• Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases and their declarative query languages
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git, GitHub
